about

2022 Academy Award nominee for Best Documentary (Short Subject) "When We Were Bullies" by Jay Rosenblatt (Locomotion Films). Released 2021. I recorded the music segments during the height of the Covid lockdown in 2020, and worked mostly in isolation, with Michele adding her violin parts from her apartment in San Francisco. I highly recommend watching an earlier Rosenblatt film- "The Smell of Burning Ants," an examination of bullying and those who become collaborators with a bully. Ants strikes a more serious tone, while Bullies finds some moments of levity, largely through some very unlikely coincidences that caused this film to fall into place. In fact, this film would not have occurred without those coincidences. Highly recommended viewing, when it becomes available on your streaming service. This is my third film with Jay. He is an absolute pleasure to work for (that doesn't mean I can do whatever I want. It means I know he's going to make a very well-put-together film, and I get to be part of that. Collaboration at it's finest. -Erik
