The inspiration for this piece came from an experience when I was in the hospital in 2000, quite ill with a strep-A infection. I was hooked up to a couple beeping machines, as were two other people in my room. I was somewhat out of it, but there was a moment where the beeping machines mixed with my dreams, and a grand parade of people, beckoning me to join them, came marching past, and the music was incredibly infectious. Maybe that's the wrong word. But, it was, for sure the affirmation of life, and to join the living, and not exit just yet. I incorporated the beeps, and the musical idea that I also 'heard' in the dream, in this piece. It is, easily, my most positive and uplifting piece.
